Rachel and Jonathan got married at Kendal parish church and then took all their guests to the Merewood in Windemere.
It was a brilliant day, from the chaos of all the ushers getting ready in the morning, to Rachel looking amazing in her dress. They had a really cool split screen VW camper as the wedding car and the sun shone down on us most of the day. Here are just a couple of shots from the day.

The Lakes

We have been riding more since the weather has been getting better. The really cold weather over the winter knocked most of ours plans out of the window, but now the trails are dry and we are loving the warmer, longer days.

Desert Rally.

Here are a couple of shots from more time spent in the UAE a few months ago, starting and finishing in Abu Dhabi with the rest of the rally way out in the 'Empty Quarter' over near the Saudi boarder.
It is a week long rally for both bikes and cars, and the early morning starts let us see the desert at its best. What an amazing place with the massive dunes and incredible colours, it never fails to blow me away.

Abu Dhabi Air Show

I am trying to play catch-up. Between moving and being really busy, i have been a bit slack in keeping updated.
We went out to Abu Dhabi to cover the airshow for the tourist authority. It was a great show spread over a week out in the dunes. Local entertainment was as good as always, with sun hat and factor 50 the order of the day. (You might even notice me working hard in one of the shots).

Bullrushes!!

Whilst down on the 'flatlands' when the snow was still around, i loved the area of bullrushes that i found. They felt so graphic and structural, they almost seemed to be like buildings rising up into the sky.
I know i put a few similar shots in the earlier post, but it is my blog, so after revisiting the pictures, here are a couple of additional shots that i like from the shoot last week.

Here is 'Part II' of the trip to the marshland area from last week. This time i was there later as the sun went down. Again, the weather was wonderfully crisp and clear, and the combination of beautiful afternoon light and cold winter air made it a real pleasure to be out.

The Big Freeze.

The weather has been causing chaos around the country, but it has changed the landscape into a place we do not often get to see - a very beautiful, white place.
So, to capture something a little bit different, i headed out to an area of marshland between me and the coast. It is not the lakes and mountains, but over the course of a couple of days i got some really nice shots of an area that is new to me.

Walk in the Snow.

Tina and I went for a walk in the snow a few days ago. I was enjoying being out in the hills so much i nearly forgot to take a few snaps, but here are a few taken on the way back down to the lake.
(The last one was on the way home when it decided to start dumping with snow again.)

It might be cold up here in the Lakes at the moment, but whatever the season there is always something going on. I got up the other day and could see there was a good chance of a nice sunrise, so i threw a camera in a bag with my gloves and headed out to see what happened. I was rewarded, after a little walk, with a beautiful sunrise.
What a great way to start the day.

David & Annabel's Winter Wedding

David and Annabel got married down in Southampton the weekend before christmas. The weather was glorious, and the frost and snow did not manage to keep anyone away. Thanks to all the family and friends for making it such a great day for them both.

Sara Gadd - "Miliner".

I met up with Sara Gadd recently as part of my ongoing project documenting a small selection of the wealth of talented craftsmen/women we have throughout the county.
Sara is based at Corby Hill and has a flourishing business as a miliner. She makes the most beautiful hats for an increasing list of clients throughout the country, each as a bespoke commission, and for a wide number of occasions. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was great to experience first hand, so if you are in the market for a hat (for any occasion) you should definitely give Sara a call.

Dubai 7's

I have been away covering the first round of the rugby 7's over in Dubai. All the big guns were there, but in the end the All Blacks proved to be unstoppable and took the title against Fiji. The atmosphere was electric, with 35,000 people helping to make a memorable weekend under the warm Arab sky. Here are just a couple of images i managed to take through the weekend.

Unlimited Hydroplanes

I have just come back from covering the Unlimited Hydroplanes in Qatar, the first time they have ever raced outside of the USA - what an amazing piece of engineering they are. Turbine engines powering them around a 2 mile oval course at speeds of over 200mph. They are the fastest things on water. And the guys that pilot these things are constantly battling to keep them in contact with the water. It was a great setting and a real thrill to get up close and personal to the whole event.

Rachel & Jonathan Pre-Wed Shots.

I met up with Rachel and Jonathan for their pre-wed shoot whilst there were still leaves on the trees. We had a fab couple of hours taking pictures, chatting and getting to know each other ahead of their big day in may next year. They soon relaxed and we got a great set of pictures, from which they have chosen a beautiful image for their signature frame. No clues to which one they picked!

Sarah & Mark - Modern Lifestyle Shoot.

Whilst visiting with Kate and Craig down in Colchester, (great wedding and lifestyle photographers themselves - craigwilliamsphotography.com) we got together with Mark and Sarah for a lifestyle shoot. They were fantastic, game for anything, brought with them loads of different clothes, as well as some gorgeous weather. It was a frantic morning with loads of fab locations and costume changes, and we ended up with a brilliant selection of images we were all really pleased with. Thanks to everyone for pulling it all together.

Out for a walk the other day, and you couldn't get away from it - Seaweed - it has got all sorts of healing properties, it is often pretty pungent, but drop it on a beach with and angry sky above and it can look quite beautiful.

Laura and Andrew got married earlier this summer on a glorious day out at Allonby on the Cumbrian coast. It was a fabulous, red hot day in the sunshine.
After they got back from their honeymoon to the west coast of Canada, i met up with Laura to take some shots with her on a "cherish the dress" shoot. We had a really fun afternoon, Laura got to put on her beautiful dress again and was brilliant in playing along with the ideas and locations we came up with. The result was that we came back with a great selection of images that she didn't have chance to get on the wedding day.

A couple of weeks ago we managed to organise a camping trip up to the highlands on the west coast of scotland. It has to be one of the most beautiful areas the UK has to offer. Mountains right down to the ocean, with a great coastline, secluded beaches and a very relaxed way of life. What a great place to get away from it all.

Jonny Leach - "Woodturner"

It was really good to spend time with a friend of mine the other day, and start a personal project of my own which will document a number of different and very skillful local craftsmen and women, and show the process that is involved in each of their particular crafts.

Jonny is a very talented woodturner and is making a great name for himself in cumbria (jlwoodturning.co.uk), and the word is spreading as more people buy some of his beautiful pieces. You should really check out his work, he always has a good choice of bowls in stock or can undertake a commission should you have something specific in mind.

I was recently contacted by Alan and Judith about taking their kids off their hands for a few hours, so Ashleigh and Liam came out and we all headed off for a lifestyle shoot. Just to add to the experience, Ashleigh dropped into The Retreat for a little pampering first to have her makeup done. After that, we headed towards the coast. They were both great, and really relaxed after they realised how simple and fun it can be getting your photo taken. We got a fantastic collection of images and everyone was really happy with the results.
